I have been working with children and young people in a variety of roles for the last 15 years, teaching English (Y7-Y11) in a large secondary school while also providing private one to one tuition to students that needed extra support. More recently I have been working with preschool children, tasked with enhancing the literacy programme within provision.
I feel my breadth of experience equips me with the knowledge and understanding to provide a relaxed yet informative learning opportunity for tutees, one which can be adapted and refined to meet the needs of individuals.
I am passionate about English as a subject and enjoy sharing this with young people in the hope of igniting a lifelong love of reading and Literature.
I enjoy reading in my spare time, but with three young children, I don’t get as much free time as I once did! I love being outdoors and can often be found walking out in the Peaks at the weekend with my family.

I have 17 years of teaching experience and have taught pupils from Year 1 up to Year 11 in a range of settings, including mainstream Primary Schools, Primary Schools for children with complex special educational needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN) units within Secondary Schools. For 10 years I was a SENCO and therefore have a very good understanding of the range of needs and support required for SEND children, including those with hearing impairments, Autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties. I spent 6 years teaching Year 6 children and therefore have a thorough knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, including the requirements of the SATs tests which I have successfully prepared children for. I am also trained to deliver the Read Write Inc Phonics program to children throughout primary school.
Role: Tutor (KS3 History, GCSE History (EDEXCEL SPEC), KS3 RE/Philosophy, GCSE RE, A Level Religious Studies, A-Level Philosophy and Ethics
Qualifications: BA Religious Education Studies, QTS.
I have sixteen years experience teaching Years 7 - 13 students and two years’ experience tutoring, both online and face to face. I get huge enjoyment from tutoring and supporting young people to progress, thrive and grow in their own confidence and subject knowledge. My tutoring style is both creative and imaginative, whilst ensuring that all aspects of the specification are addressed at GCSE and A Level. I have held a number of roles in my time working in schools including Head of Department and Associate Assistant Headteacher. One of my more challenging roles was as a PGCE Curriculum Tutor working at the University of Sussex where I supported numerous trainee teachers through their PGCE year to achieve Qualified teacher Status themselves. I still work for the University of Sussex part time, supporting trainee secondary school teachers. I love all things Italian; the people, culture, art, architecture, food and language and my honeymoon back in 2017 was a three week trip traveling around Italy, resulting in me coming back to England and completing a beginners course in the Italian language! In my free time, I love baking (I’m a huge GBBO fan!), reading, learning about different eras of History through podcasts and traveling.
